Montefiore Petite Sirah is made from Petite Sirah grapes, grown in vineyards of the Judean Hills, which climb towards the City of Jerusalem.
Petite Sirah is a variety that first came to Israel in the 1970s. Initially it was planted to provide structure and colour for inexpensive blends. More recently however, by using older vines and drastically reducing yields, wines of great individuality, character and quality have been produced. Petite Sirah may well reflect the true Israeli terroir better than some of the more international varieties.
The Montefiore Petite Sirah is a very deep coloured and full bodied wine with aromas of black fruit, plums and an enchanting delicate hint of violets in the background. It was aged in small French oak barrels for 14 months. Decanting is recommended.
